Had a lovely Birthday lunch in Guildford today, met up with Daughter Hannah at All Bar One in North St.
Very nice food in a pleasant atmosphere, thanks for the treat Hannah.

Another trip down to the Lotty with some bits today, Had a little job to do on the shed to make it more weather proof, the door wasn't a very good fit and it was letting in some snow along the top.
Decided to add an overhang above the door, its gonna need refining in the better weather, but it'll do the trick for the time being.
Heres a shot of us having a cuppa, half way through the job.

The job in progress

Needed some fresh air this afternoon, so took a couple of bits down to the Lotty. At least with a covering of snow the plot looks as good as any of the others, LOL

More progress on the allotment plot, had the good fortune to be given a 6x8 greenhouse, just have to clean it up, decide where to site it, and re-glaze.

The greenhouse came with a full length bench each side, I will use the aluminium one in the greenhouse, but use the timber from the wooden one for other purposes
Will have to Rabbit proof the fence line by sinking wire into the ground, in this picture you can see I used the trench to get rid of some unwanted stone.
Heres Cissy, getting to grips with a barrow load of rubbish.

A good start this afternoon on the allotment plot, just a general tidy up and removal of unwanted trees shrubs and other plants.
Pathways have been made by former tenants out of old carpet tiles, bit of plastic and felt, this all needs to be removed because I want to create different paths that don't intrude into growing areas.

Although the soil is clay based, I was pleasantly surprised at the overall quality, some areas are quite light and friable. There doesn't appear to be a huge perennial weed problem, theres a small amount of patchy ground elder but no sign of the dreaded couch grass!

It looks as though I'm going to have to sink some wire into the ground along the boundary fence as a deterrent to Rabbits.

The shed needs some attention, a coat of wood preservative is required and some levelling is needed, but nothing too difficult.

I met several plot holders this afternoon, all were nice and helpful, with some good advice on what does well on the allotments and what doesn't.

Ok folks, after a lot of messing around, we've finally managed to get an allotment that we are happy with. Much nearer to home, at only 10mins walk, and conveniently situated near the High street, it is a fairly level plot which is fenced and not too overgrown.
Heres a fews shots from various angles, also showing some bits and bobs abandoned by previous tenant.
